UNG commissions three local men as second lieutenants

John M. Todd receives his commendation as a second lieutenant from retired Army Brig. Gen. Mike Seely of the Georgia Mountain Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America.

Three local men recently received commendations and their first set of “gold bars” during commissioning ceremonies at the University of North Georgia.

John M. Todd of Gainesville and Matthew W. Satterfield of Clermont were commissioned as second lieutenants in the Army Ordnance Corps. Jonathon "Chase" Strickland was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army Infantry. Strickland also was recognized earlier in the year for placing first first among 5,000 cadets in the Army ROTC program.

Retired Army Brig. Gen. Mike Seely of the Georgia Mountain Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America handed out the commendations.
