Students collect 1,600 can foods

Ms. Fung’s fifth-grade class won the canned goods food drive competition with 140 donated cans.
In Sardis Enrichment School’s inaugural food drive competition, students collected more than 1,600 cans of food in four days to benefit Gainesville children and families. “The overwhelming response of students, teachers and staff to this food drive has been amazing,” school counselor Monie Shope said. During an awards assembly, Principal Neil Yarrington presented a Community Service Award to every student in Ms. Fung’s fifth-grade class, which won the competition with 140 donated cans.
