Holly Crumley from Holly’s Dog and Biscuit Inn and Judy Presley, awards committee chairwoman for the Georgia Council for the Blind, presented a special program recently to Sardis Elementary School fifth-graders. Crumley brought her therapy dog, Trudy, and Presley brought her service dog, Katie, to show the students the different services these dogs provide and how they help the disabled.

Marilyn Hamblen’s fifth-grade students recently participated in Lanier Elementary’s Social Studies Fair. On Jan. 11, Anna Kate Caudell, Makayla Lee, David Lawson, Kristen Hughes, David Funk, Creighton Knight, Brett Anderson, Tyler Bennett and Matthew Pruitt advanced to the county level of competition, held at C.W. Davis Middle School.

Jennifer Shook has been named to the honor roll at the University of Miami for fall 2007. To receive this honor, students must attend full time and attain a GPA of 3.75. Shook is the daughter of Randy and Susan Shook of Gainesville.

The following students were recently listed on the dean’s list at LaGrange College in LaGrange: Eric Brian Clark and William David Simons.
