Mallory Rich of Gainesville was recently named to the president's list at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro for the fall 2011 semester. To be eligible for the president's list, a student must have at least a 4.0 grade-point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.

The following students were chosen as National Youth Delegates to attend the Washington Youth Summit on the Environment at George Mason University. Megan Horning of Jefferson, a student at Jackson County Comprehensive High School, and Kaitlyn Rheinschild, of Murrayville, a student at White County High School have been selected to represent Georgia.

John T. Burns of Gainesville, has recently been named to the dean's list at Boston University for the fall 2011 semester.

Lakeview Academy senior Sahara Calderhead of Braselton was named a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Calderhead is among only 15,000 students in the U.S. who qualified and received a Certificate of Merit.

Katherine E. Schofield of Gainesville was named to the president's list at the University of Montevallo. To make the President's List, a student must earn at least a 3.8 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale and be a full-time student at the university.

John Aaron Jovaag earned a place on the dean's list for Fall 2011 at Tulane University in New Orleans.

Rachel Jamison of Hall County was named to the fall 2011 dean's list at Stevenson University. The dean's list honors students who have achieved a 3.5 or higher GPA for the semester.

Brittany Bass of Buford, and Clayton Eames of Hoschton were named to the dean's list for fall 2011 at Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee. Students earning a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher while taking 12 or more credit hours are awarded the distinction of dean's list honors.

Aaron Simpson of Buford was named to the dean's list at Chestnut Hill College for the fall 2011 semester. Students are named to the dean's listif they have achieved a GPA of 3.6 or higher.

Charles Edward Wood of Gainesville graduated from Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va. Wood earned a bachelor of business administration degree .

Devon Zwald of Flowery Branch made the dean's list at DePaul University for the fall quarter of 2011. In order to qualify for the dean's list at DePaul, students must earn above a 3.0 grade-point average on a four point scale.

Maurice Eugene Riden of Flowery Branch was named to the Mars Hill College dean's list for the 2011 fall semester. To qualify for the dean's list, students must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 on a minimum of 12 semester hours, and carry no grade below a C.

Rebecca Howard of Buford was recently named to the Benedictine College dean's list for the fall semester.

To achieve the dean's list, students must carry a minimum of 12 credit hours and have an average 3.5 to 3.9 grade-point average.

Colton Webber of Cleveland was named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Buena Vista University. Students named to the dean's list must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 for the semester based on a 4.0 grade-point system and must have taken at least 12 hours of coursework.

William L. Roszel of Flowery Branch was named to the Oklahoma City University dean's list for the fall 2011 semester.

Students must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours during a semester and maintain a GPA of 3.5 for the dean's list.

The following Furman University students were named to the dean's list for the 2011 fall semester. Furman's dean's list is composed of full-time undergraduate students who earn a grade-point average of 3.4 or higher on a four-point system.

Rebekah Abi Champy was named to the dean's list at Anderson University for the fall semester. In order to be named to the dean's list, a student must maintain a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for the semester.

Kelsey Bagwell, senior mass communication major from Gainesville, has been selected as a Georgia College representative in the 2011-12 edition of "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges."

Kelia Veiga of Flowery Branch, has received a Presidential Scholarship from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Lauren Paveo, senior political science major from Gainesville, has been selected as a Georgia College representative in the 2011-12 edition of "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges."

North Georgia Technical College hosted nearly 300 SkillsUSA contestants from high schools across the Northeast Georgia area. The theme for this year was "Champions at Work: Skilled and Motivated." In all, 23 counties sent students to NGTC for a day of competition in technical fields such as public speaking, welding, and automotive.

Russ Prentice Puckett of Gainesville was recently named to the dean's list at Clayton State University in Morrow. Students must enroll in a minimum of nine credit hours and maintain a grade-point average of 3.6 or higher to be eligible for the dean's list.

Adam K. Herndon of Gainesville has been named to the president's list of The University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Ala., for the fall 2011 semester. This achievement recognizes only those students who have taken at least 12 semester hours and who have attained a minimum grade-point average of 3.8 for the term.

Flowery Branch High School senior and Hoschton resident Alexa Lee has been nominated to represent Georgia as a National Youth Correspondent to the 2012 Washington Journalism and Media Conference at George Mason University.
