 Two students from Hall County, Johnathan Kytle and Chad Williams, were named to the summer semester dean's list at Middle Georgia College. To make the dean's list, a student must have at least a grade-point average of 3.5 out of a possible 4.0 while maintaining a full academic load.

 

Jostens has announced that North Hall High School secretary Beverly Buffington was inducted into Jostens Renaissance Hall of Fame.

Buffington was honored at the annual Jostens Renaissance National Conference July 15-17 in Anaheim, Calif.

The Jostens Renaissance Hall of Fame honor is presented to educators who demonstrate exceptional leadership while inspiring academic achievement among all students at their respective school through their Jostens Renaissance program.

The inductee must have made a significant impact through Jostens Renaissance at both the state and national level. This year, Buffington was the lone inductee into Jostens Renaissance Hall of Fame.

 

Riverside Military Academy Cadet Maj. Alec Ruppenthal, a senior, was appointed Battalion Honor Court Chairman for the 2011-12 academic year.

The Honor Court Chairman's duties include educating cadets on the Honor Code, directing the activities of the Honor Council, and recommending action to be taken to the president for code violations.

Ruppenthal is a member of the cross country team, swim team and varsity baseball team at RMA. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Ruppenthal of Gainesville.

 

Two local residents made the academic dean's list at Azusa Pacific University. These students are honored for a spring semester 2011 academic standing of 3.5 or better grade-point average. A total of 1,575 students received the same honor.
