Medical Center Auxiliary honors three volunteers

The Medical Center Auxiliary recognized its volunteers at a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon at the First Baptist Church banquet hall.

Peggy Blackmon received the Marjorie Covington Smith Auxilian of the Year award, which was presented by Jennifer Bagwell, president of The Medical Center Auxiliary. Blackmon has been a volunteer at Northeast Georgia Medical Center for 25 years, given more than 4,000 hours of service and worn many hats during that time. She has served as an Auxiliary Board Member, chairing the education committee; served on the Auxiliary’s Love Light Committee; been a leader with Phoenix Society; volunteered for many evenings in The Window Shops; and been a buyer for The Window Shops.

Cecile Dobash received the Nell Whelchel Wiegand Patient Friend award, which was presented by Barbara Bostwick, vice president of The Medical Center Auxiliary. Dobash is a dedicated volunteer who serves as a patient friend in the emergency department and a volunteer in The Window Shops. She helps with special projects and community events and has volunteered at NGMC for eight years, giving more than 3,200 hours of service.

Lorena Collins received special recognition for volunteering for 51 years and counting, providing 24,000 hours of service.

More than 180 volunteers reached service milestones during the past year and received pins recognizing their service, ranging from 75 to 24,000 hours of service.
