Jackson EMC recently awarded Allison Walls, a Flowery Branch High School senior, with a $1,000 2015 Walter Harrison Scholarship.

The daughter of Mark and Julie Walls of Buford, Walls will attend the University of Georgia this fall to pursue a degree in biology and plans to become a doctor.

She is currently ranked one of the top five students of her class and has received numerous honors. She’s also an alumna of Youth Leadership Hall and the Washington Youth Tour, an annual leadership event for teens sponsored by the state’s electric cooperatives, including Jackson EMC.

“When you see these students’ accomplishments, you can’t help but get excited and support them in any way possible,” said Ernest A. “Chip” Jakins III, Jackson EMC president/CEO. “It’s a privilege to help someone of Allison’s caliber succeed in life, and there’s no better way to ensure success than to earn a solid education.”
