The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia has received $50,000 from the estate of the late Conrad Holsten.
Julie Edwards, executive director of the humane society, said the funds will be used to support and expand the society’s foster program, to support the facility’s adoptable animal food program and to fund future facility renovations.
“I had the pleasure of getting to know Conrad during the past five years at HSNEGA,” Edwards said. “He was a kind, humble man who was passionate about helping animals in need. It is our desire to use this gift to honor this passion and his generosity.”
A longtime Gainesville resident, Holsten died in February 2014 following an extended illness. He was the owner/operator of Conrad’s Garden Center in Oakwood and adopted many animals.
