Hall County graduates complete basic training

Three Flowery Branch and one East Hall High School graduates plus two Riverside Military Academy graduates recently completed basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Army Pvt. Peter L. Bankston is a 2011 FBHS graduate while Army Pvt. William A. Campbell graduated from FBHS in 2012.

Army National Guard Pfc. Tyler J. Kenton is 2011 FBHS graduate and son of Anthony Kenton of Buford.

Army Spc. Benjamin S. Ivey graduated from East Hall High School in 2008 and earned a bachelor’s degree in 2012 from Sullivan College of Technology and Design, Louisville, Ky. He is the son of Jennifer Deaton of Lula and Richard Ivey of Louisville, Ky.

Army Reserve Pfc. Clinton T. Hawkins and Army Reserve Pfc. Clinton T. Hawkins are 2010 Riverside Military Academy graduates.

During nine weeks of training, the soldiers studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
