The Buford Lanier Women's Club recently awarded two $1,500 scholarships.

Recipients are Morgan Gottfried, who will attend Georgia State University, and Shelby Dasher, who will attend North Georgia State College & State University.

The organization also made a $500 contribution to Buford Middle School to purchase biographies of historical and contemporary women.

The Georgia Federation of Woman's Clubs also recently awarded the Buford Lanier Woman's Club the Tallulah Falls Perpetual Silver Tray. Also, the state organization recognized the newly formed Lake Lanier Junior Woman's Club with its charter.

The new club has started community work with the North Gwinnett Food Co-op and are working to raise money to educate people about childhood obesity.

The Lake Lanier Junior Woman's Club is sponsored by the Buford Lanier Women's Club.
