The Medical Center Auxiliary Inc. honored volunteers May 7 at its Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. Tom and Lou Hanson were named the 2008 Marjorie Covington Smith Auxilians of the Year. Margaret Ellett received the Nell W. Wiegand Patient Friend Award. Joan Kosmala was recognized for 15,500 hours of service. Lorena Collins was recognized for 21,500 hours of service.  Sixty-six other volunteers were honored for their service to the Auxiliary. Volunteers gave 55,000 combined hours of service during Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s fiscal year 2007.



Army Pvt. Amy M. Lesko has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. She is the daughter of William and Olga Lesko of Gainesville.



Air Force Airman 1st Class Charles M. Owens II has graduated from the Aviation Resource Management Apprentice Course at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Miss. Owens is the son of Charles M. and Luz M. Owens of Sugar Hill.



Army Pvt. Jamie A. Swanson has graduated from One Station Unit Training at the U.S. Army Infantry School in Fort Benning, Columbus.  He is the son of Randy W. Swanson of Osco, Ill., and Darlene Swanson of Sugar Hill.



Navy Seaman Recruit Andrew L. Ebel recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. He is the son of Caroline A. Useman of North Fort Myers, Fla. and Bruce C. Ebel of Dawsonville.
