At its October meeting, the Lyman Hall Chapter Sons of the American Revolution presented a Bronze Good Citizenship Medal to retired U.S. Marine Master Sgt. Jack Reese, Naval Science Instructor in the Junior Naval ROTC program at Gainesville High School.

The JNROTC unit takes many youth who have no structure at home, and often no male figure, and gives them an order to their lives that simply would not be there without their instructors.

Reese has been with the Gainesville program for more than four years. Because of staffing issues, oversaw the program himself spending countless hours working with his cadets, many of whom would not have progressed through high school and into college without his guidance and caring.

Lyman Hall President Ed Rigel Sr. was assisted in the presentation of the medal by Chapter JROTC Committee members Roscoe McMillan and Mike Bunting. Naval Science Instructor Lt. Greg Kiker also was present.
