The Gainesville Jaycees concluded its latest Empty Stocking Fund project Monday with a Christmas party at Skate Country in Gainesville.

The Empty Stocking Fund, started in 1955, provides clothing, shoes, toys and food to those children and families who might otherwise go without during the holidays, and 220 Hall County families were helped this year.

Families were also provided with a week’s worth of food donated from J&J Foods.

“This is what we work hard for all year,” 2014 Jaycees President Brett Fowler said. “It feels great to see the countless hours we’ve spent this year raising funds culminate with helping provide Christmas to those in need.”

The project is made possible each year in part by the Jaycees Empty Stocking Fund raffle and charitable donations to the fund.

This year’s work was also aided by Wilheit Packaging, which provided boxes for the transportation of gifts, Skate Country and Wal-Mart.

Those wishing to donate to the Empty Stocking Fund may make checks out to the Gainesville Jaycees and mail them to P.O. Box 126, Gainesville, GA 30503.
