Da Vinci Academy students earn honor in poetry contest

Five students from the Da Vinci Academy placed in the Georgia River of Words Poetry and Art Project competition.

Sponsored by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, River of Words is part of the Georgia Project WET and the Georgia Center for the Book. The contest was started in 1995 by U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Hass, who still judges the competition.

The Da Vinci Academy State winners in art were eighth-graders Mackenzie Peterson and Cameron Holmes, seventh-graders Miranda Bisson and Grace Eidson and sixth-grader William Bagwell. Poetry winner was eighth-grader Erica Bassett.
