The Brenau Barbecue Competition with the Memphis Barbecue Network and Georgia Barbecue Association competitions drew 37 teams from five states in late May to the historic Brenau University campus in Gainesville. Although the competition draws a number of participants from Gainesville and North Georgia, both grand champs and the reserve champ were from south of Atlanta. Winners were: Rob Caron of Gainesville was the Almighty Smoke Masters cook team captain.
