Carmita Ann Hancock of Gainesville announces the engagement of her daughter, Chatela Monae Young to Ashton Daron Cheeks, son of Kimmerle Goudelock of Newark, N.J., and Jerry Cheeks of Gainesville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Cinderella Osborn-Hale of Gainesville and the late Arthur Osborn.

She is a 2010 graduate of Johnson High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2014 from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in family and consumer sciences. She is employed as a flight attendant at Delta Air Lines in Atlanta.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Katherine Campbell of Homer.

He is a 2010 graduate of Johnson High School in Gainesville. He studied business administration at the University of North Georgia. He is employed as a sales consultant at AT&T.

The couple plan to wed in early 2017.
