Marcia Whitmire of Cumming and David and Kathy Whitmire of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Katelyn Jo Whitmire to Jeremiah Adam Evans, son of Quentin and Lauri Evans of Cumming.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Glen and Joyce Whitmire of Gainesville and Richard and Betty Schoendorf of Soperton.

She is a 2004 graduate of South Forsyth High School in Cumming. She graduated in 2009 from North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega with a bachelor's degree in education. She is employed with Forsyth County Tax office in Cumming.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Martha Evans of Cumming, the late James Lee Evans, Norma Ingram of Ball Ground and the late Fred Ingram.

He is a 2004 graduate of South Forsyth High School in Cumming. He attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton. He is employed as a project manager with Cranemax Rentals in Cumming.

The couple plan to wed Oct. 25, 2009, at Legacy Lodge at Lake Lanier Islands in Buford.
