Don E. and Ruth M. Wade of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Amanda Ruth Wade to Jon Thompson, son of Mary Ann Thompson of Columbus and the late Thomas John Thompson.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Ada C. McCrum of Gainesville, the late Dr. Barton Allan McCrum and the late Richard Elmer and Doris Wade.

She is a 1993 graduate of Gainesville High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 1998 from Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C., with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She is employed as a fifth-grade teacher with Telluride Intermediate School in Telluride, Colo.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Maurice and Viola O’Brian and the late Horace and Eleanore Thompson.

He is a 1991 graduate of Shaw High School in Columbus. He is employed as a technical engineer with Media Ranch in Telluride.

The couple plans to wed June 14, 2008, on a mountain top in Telluride.
