Donna and Ron Lawson of Lula and Mack and Joan Thompson of St. Simons Island announce the engagement of their daughter Deena Shannan Thompson to Christopher Paul Whiting, son of Ron and Paula Whiting of Gillsville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Luke and Tee Thompson and the late Edward and Mary Jones.

She is a graduate of East Hall High School in Gainesville. She is employed by Kubota Manufacturing of America in Gainesville.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Harold Whiting of Flowery Branch, the late Daisy Whiting and Paul and Mildred Garrison of Gillsville.

He is a graduate of East Hall High School in Gainesville. He is employed with M3 Accounting Services in Gainesville.

The couple plan to wed July 10, 2010, at Midway United Methodist Church in Gillsville.
