Kenny and Sondra Thompson of Lula announce the engagement of their daughter Whitney Lauren Thompson to James Tristan Lynn, son of James and Susan Lynn of Easley, S.C.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Virginia Watkins and the late Ray Watkins of Gainesville, Ron and Donna Lawson of Lula and Mack and Joan Thompson of St. Simon's Island.

She is a 2003 graduate of East Hall High School in Gainesville. She will graduate in 2011 from Greenville Technical College in Greenville, S.C., with a degree in dental hygiene.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Ralph and Teresa Lynn and James and Mildred Sullivan.

He is a 2000 graduate of Easley High School in Easley, S.C. He graduated in 2005 from Clemson University in Clemson, S.C., with a degree in business management.

The couple plan to wed June 25, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Easley, S.C.
