Deanna Thomas of Gainesville and John and Jessica Thomas of Orlando, Fla., announce the engagement of their daughter Heather Nicole Thomas to Joseph Bart Hudgins, son of Sammy and Lynn Hudgins of Lula.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Royce and Linda Winters and Lillie Thomas, all of Gainesville, Mary Jane Sailing of Dahlonega and the late Charles Thomas.

She is a 2008 graduate of East Hall High School in Gainesville. She is pursuing an associate degree from Gainesville State College in early childhood education. She is employed as a salon assistant with Elaine's Salon and Spa in Murrayville.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Bill and Edna Poole of Gainesville and the late LT and Ruth Hudgins.

He is a 2006 graduate of East Hall High School in Gainesville. He is employed as a mover with Adams Transfer and Storage in Gainesville.

The couple plan to wed May 7, 2011, at Double Springs Baptist Church in Demorest.
