Richard and Dixie Stewart of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Jennifer Lacey Stewart to Juan Carlo Castaneda Velarde, son of Juan Manuel and Carlota Velarde de Castaneda of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Clint and Geneva Riddle of Milledgeville and John Ben and Jean McBee Stewart of Union Point.

She is a 2005 graduate of Gainesville High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2009 from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., with a bachelor’s degree in operations research. She is an operations research analyst stationed with the U.S. Air Force in Colorado Springs

The groom-elect is the grandson of Cesar and Graciela Castaneda of Playitas, Guatemala, and Guillermo and Alamalily Velarde of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala.

He is a 2005 graduate of Instituto Adolfo V. Hall de Occidente in San Marcos, Guatemala. He graduated in 2010 from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He is a military officer with the Guatemalan Air Force in Guatemala City in Guatemala.

The couple plan to wed Aug. 1, 2010, in Gainesville.
