Danny and Sherry Scott of Clermont announce the engagement of their daughter Shelley Catherine Scott to Kevin Stanley Smith, son of Vickie Mitchum of Gainesville and Stanley and Kelly Smith of Gainesville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late John and Bessie Lou Greene and the late Gus and Myrtle Scott.

She is a 2003 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2007 from North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education/special education. She is employed as a third-grade teacher with Kilough Elementary School in Dawsonville.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Ruby Smith of Gainesville, Betty Murray of Cornelia and the late Chester Smith.

He is a 2003 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. He graduated in 2007 from Lanier Technical College in Oakwood with an associate’s degree in marketing management. He is employed as a sales representative with PPG Industries in Gainesville.

The couple plans an open-church wedding for 2 p.m. April 5, 2008, at Concord Baptist Church in Clermont.
