Dr. and Mrs. John Edward Omenski of Huntsville, Ala., announce the engagement of their daughter Ryan Marie Omenski to Alexander Volentine Green, son of Lt. Col. and Mrs. Maurice Oliver Volentine Green of Birmingham, Ala.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis James Schmidt of Huntsville, Ms. Janie Price Burnham of Cullman, Ala., the late Mr. Joseph Edward Omenski, and Dr. and Mrs. Ervin Edward Chafian of Rantoul, Ill.

She is a 2002 graduate of Huntsville High School in Huntsville. She graduated in 2006 from Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham with a bachelor’s degree in public affairs and communications. She is employed as a territory manager with Cooper Surgical Inc. in Birmingham. She is a board member of the Alabama Junior Miss Pageant and a volunteer for the United Service Organizations.
The groom-elect is the grandson of Mrs. Virgil Eston Young of Gainesville, the late Lt. Col. George Washington Smith Jr. and the late Dr. and Mrs. Albert Huey Green.

He is a 2003 graduate of Mountain Brook High School in Birmingham. He graduated in 2007 from Birmingham-Southern College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He is employed as a sales engineer with Tool Systems Inc. in Birmingham.

The couple plans to wed April 26, 2008, at Highlands United Methodist Church in Birmingham.
