Mrs. Lora Marie Weiss of San Diego, Calif., and Dr. Gregory Kent Meekin of Biloxi, Miss., announce the engagement of their daughter Miss Ashley Marie Meekin to Mr. Brian Gregory Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Dale Johnson of Gainesville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Reed of Huntington, Ind., Ms. Vera Orr of Warsaw, Ind., Mrs. Dorretta Meekin of Biloxi, Miss., and the late Mr. Dale Meekin.

She is a 2006 graduate of Ocean Springs High School in Ocean Springs, Miss. She graduated in 2010 from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La., with a bachelor's degree in biological sciences. She is pursuing a doctorate of medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Medicine in Jackson, Miss.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Archer W. Hamilton, Mrs. Ida Mae Johnson, all of Gainesville and the late Mr. Eugene Johnson.

He is a 2004 graduate of Mount Juliet High School in Mount Juliet, Tenn. He graduated in 2010 from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with a bachelor's degree in construction management. He is employed as a field engineer with Kiewit in New Orleans, La.

The couple plan to wed May 26, 2012, in New Orleans, La.
