Billy R. and Vickie B. Hines of Texarkana, Ark., and J. Michael and Marsha L. McCorkle of Hope, Ark., announce the engagement of their daughter Melanie Ann McCorkle to James David Ellwanger, son of David C. and Stormie K. Ellwanger of Flowery Branch.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Eugene C. and R. Doris Bobo and K. June McCorkle, all of Hope, Ark., and the late James D. McCorkle.

She is a 2000 graduate of Bob Jones Academy in Greenville, S.C. She graduated in 2004 from Brenau University with a bachelor's degree in legal studies and conflict resolution. She received a doctorate of jurisprudence at the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville, Ark. She is employed as an assistant solicitor general with Forsyth County.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Frances M. Knight of Buford, the late Charles L. Knight, Martha V. Ellwanger of Newborn and the late James F. Ellwanger.

He is a 1999 graduate of West Hall High School in Oakwood. He graduated in 2004 from North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega with a bachelor's degree in marketing. He is employed as a talent acquisition manager and India team lead with ASAP Staffing in Norcross.

The couple plan to wed June 5, 2009, at the Carl House in Auburn.
