Dr. and Mrs. Lee A. Martin Jr. of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Miss Mary Catherine “Cassie” Martin to Dr. Cody Scott Freeman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Freeman of Macon.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Pardue of Gainesville, and Dr. Lee A. Martin Sr. of Gainesville and the late Mrs. Beverly Martin.

She is a 2004 graduate of Lakeview Academy in Gainesville. She graduated from Georgia Regents University with a bachelor of science degree in early childhood education.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Garrett Freeman of Hampton, and Mrs. Dollie Smith of Pikeville, Tenn., and the late Mr. Garland Smith.

He is a 2003 graduate of Monroe Academy in Forsyth. He graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a master’s degree in biology. He received a degree in medicine at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He is currently a resident in neurology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C.

The couple plan to wed Aug. 23, 2014, at the Chattahoochee Country Club in Gainesville.
