Mr. and Mrs. David Johnson Hughs of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Miss Natalie Marie Hughs to Mr. Charles Wilson Kinard, son of Dr. and Mrs. Harry Wilson Kinard of Spartanburg, S.C.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Edwin F. Hughs Jr. of Gainesville, the late Mr. Edwin F. Hughs Jr., Mr. Thomas A. Trapani of Savannah, the late Mrs. Thomas A. Trapani, Mrs. Forrest DeFate Sanders Jr., of Columbia, S.C., and the late Mr. Forrest DeFate Sanders Jr.

She is a 2006 graduate of Gainesville High School in Gainesville. She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in travel and tourism from Clemson University in Clemson, S.C. The groom-elect is the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. Henry Bennett Kinard Jr. of Greenwood, S.C., Mr. and Mrs. Manford Ray Haxton of Winston Salem, N.C., and the late Mrs. Manford Ray Haxton.

He is a 2006 graduate of Spartanburg High School in Spartanburg. S.C. He is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Clemson University.

The couple plan to wed May 29, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Gainesville.
