Larry and Phyllis Haynes of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Ashley Nicole Haynes to Christopher Charles Carrigan, son of Jane Hornbrook of Alpharetta and the late Charles Carrigan.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Winford Elrod of Gainesville, the late Wynelle Elrod, Alice Haynes of Gainesville and the late Howard Haynes.

She is a 2001 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2003 from Young Harris College in Young Harris with an associate's degree in liberal arts. She is pursuing a bachelor's degree in social work at Gainesville State College in Oakwood. She is employed as a district coordinator with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in Gainesville. She is a member of The Highlands Church in Gainesville and the Girl Scouts.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Zelda Gentry of Murphy, N.C., the late Bert Gentry, and the late Pearl and Charles Echols.

He is a 2000 graduate of Milton High School in Gainesville. He is employed as a parts distributor with Dollar Auto Parts in Gainesville. He is a member of The Highlands Church in Gainesville

The couple plan to wed Oct. 4, 2008, at The Walters Farm in Lula.
