Steve and Jane Hartzog of Flowery Branch announce the engagement of their daughter Jessica Erin Hartzog to John Christopher Koehler, son of George and Regina Koehler of West Palm Beach, Fla.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Myra Hartzog and the late James Hartzog of Attapulgus, Ga., and the late Gerald and Gwendolyn Doherty of Gainesville, Fla.

She is a 2004 graduate of R.W. Johnson High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2008 from the University of Georgia with a bachelor's degree in psychology. She received a master's degree at Florida State University in family and child sciences. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in counseling psychology from Auburn University.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Vincenzo and Florence Gabriele of West Palm Beach, and the late Howard and Gloria Koehler of Sunrise, Fla.

He is a 2002 graduate of Royal Palm Beach High School in West Palm Beach, Fla. He graduated in 2007 from Florida Atlantic University with a bachelor's degree in political science and philosophy. He received a master's degree at Florida State University in international affairs. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in public administration and public policy from Auburn University.

The couple plan to wed Dec. 31, 2011, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Flowery Branch.
