Terry Charles and Connie Elaine Lester Evans of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Julie Ann Evans to Joshua Marvin Brandsma, son of Scott Allen and Roseanne Brandsma of Murrayville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Tolbert Newton, Lucy Bailey Lester and Charles Thomas and Mazell Gilleland Evans, all of Gainesville.

She is a 2007 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. She is attending North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mary Ann Dague of Cleveland, Jane Marie Brandsma of Franklin, N.C., and the late Warren Harry Brandsma.

He is a 2007 graduate of North Hall High School. He is employed as a fireman with the United States Coast Guard in Charleston, S.C.

The couple plan to wed Oct. 22, 2011, in Gainesville.
