Mamie C. and David J. Coker III of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Catharan Frances Coker to Tyler Hampton Smiley, son of Terri D. and Tom R. Smiley of Gainesville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Barbara P. and David J. Coker Jr. of Gainesville and the late Catharan K. and William Clarkson.

She is a 2005 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. She plans to graduate in 2009 from North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega with a degree in middle grades education. She is a member of Phi Mu fraternity.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Joanne E. Smiley and Jeannett C. Denington, both of Hinesville, and the late James Harry Smiley and Donald L. Denington.

He is a 2005 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. He plans to graduate in 2010 from North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega with a degree in health and physical education.

The couple plans to wed July 12, 2008, at Lakewood Baptist Church in Gainesville.
