Dining out for a cause

Tonight, The Flowery Branch Yacht Club Restaurant will participate in Dining Out for Life, a benefit for the nonprofit group Open Hand. The restaurant will take 20 percent of each guest's dinner bill and donate it to the Open Hand cause.

Open Hand provides fresh, home-delivered meals, nutrition education, counseling and therapy to home-bound seniors and others who have a chronic, critical or terminal disease.

The evening's event is part of Dining Out for Life, an international effort of more than 2,800 restaurants, which donate a portion of their proceeds to AIDS service organizations. More than $3 million is raised each year to support agencies throughout North America, according to their Web site.
