Springtime in the poultry capital of the world means it's time for the Chicken City Spring Chicken Cook-off.
Keep Hall Beautiful is looking for cooks to enter the annual contest, and proceeds from the event go to a local tree replacement fund.
An information meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Gainesville Human Resources Training Room on Henry Ward Way in Gainesville.
Categories include wings, chicken and specialty chicken. All chicken must be cooked on site during the cook-off, and cash prizes will be awarded.
The cook-off will be held April 25 on the downtown Gainesville square. The event also features a running relay, sweet tea challenge, live music and children's activities.
