Vance and Doris Swafford of Oakwood celebrated their 50th anniversary on Dec. 7, 2007. A surprise dinner party at Lanier Center Best Western in Gainesville was given by their children Susan Rettig and Ricky Swafford. Fifty friends and family were in attendance which included their church family from Trinity Presbyterian Church and family from North Carolina.

The couple has two children, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
