Dan and Janice Erwin of Cornelia celebrated their 50th anniversary on Nov. 15, 2008. A surprise party given by their family was held at the home of David and Dawn Moore of Marietta. To celebrate, they took a trip to New England during the fall foliage season.

The couple met while riding the bus to and from work in Atlanta. Janice worked at First National Bank of Atlanta and Dan was attending college and employed by McFadden Business Publications. They were married at Confederate Avenue Baptist Church in Atlanta.

The couple have two children and two grandchildren.
