Boaters rejoice: Lakeside dining season is almost here

Lake Lanier as seen from the air in July 2017.
Despite a bit of atmospheric schizophrenia, spring is here, summer is coming and Lake Lanier’s lakeside restaurants are reopening their doors for the season. If you’re reading this under the sunny skies of Thursday, March 22, it’s feeling like spring. If you’re reading this on any of the seven or 10 days to follow, you’re loudly booing the previous sentence and startling the other Starbucks customers. Anyway, the seasons ticked over on March 20 and the folks at Pelican Pete’s, Skogie’s, Pig Tales and others are cleaning up their docks, pulling out the parasols and bracing for their busiest season on the lake. Between now and Memorial Day, all of Lanier’s lakeside restaurants will either expand their hours or reopen as visitors and residents get out onto the lake.
