Atlanta may be a little crowded for you on Super Bowl Sunday and tickets to the game are too expensive, anyway. But fear not: Here are some places in Gainesville where you can catch the game and a few specials.
Open mic night at Downtown Drafts, plus PBR
Check out the growler bar on the downtown Gainesville square for its open mic night on Sunday. The bar will be open noon to 8 p.m. or later for a Super Bowl party. The game will be on and fans are encouraged to come out to enjoy themselves before and during the game while listening to some local acts perform as part of the open-mic event.
Owner Aimee Hoecker said the Super Bowl party will also serve as the year’s “celebration of cheap, delicious beer since we don’t normally serve that.” Pabst Blue Ribbon will be available and Pico’s Hot Dogs & Tacos will be on site if you get hungry.
Hoecker also promised a special announcement about Downtown Drafts’ tap list.
A brewing bonanza at LNB
Left Nut Brewing Co. will be hosting a Super Bowl party at its brewery at 2100 Atlanta Highway in Gainesville. The game will be on all of its TVs in the taproom, which will open at 1 p.m. and close when the game ends.
Left Nut is partnering with Riggy’s Sports Grill, which will have its menu on site and deliver food to the brewery free of charge. Or, if you want to bring your own food, Left Nut welcomes that, too.
Big game, big screen at Margaritaville
Margaritaville will be showing the big game at its Landshark Landing restaurant and on the big screen outside. The TVs in Landshark Landing will be on for those that can’t brave the cold, but for those that can, the five-story HD screen outside on a hill will be ready for fans.
Landshark Landing will open at 11 a.m. and stay open until 8:30 p.m., or until the crowd dies down. The restaurant will have a special on wings and $15 Landshark buckets that come with five 16-ounce Landshark beers.
