Summertime is considered playtime for children out of school. And sometimes parents are left out, only transporting their child from activity to activity.

But on June 17-18, parents and their children can play together at the Sautee Nacoochee Community Association’s Membership Appreciation Field Day.

The two-day event will begin with a movie on the lawn at 8 p.m. Friday, June 17. The feature film will be “The Sandlot,” which focuses on a new kid in town who is taken under the wing of a young baseball prodigy and his team in a coming-of-age tale set in the summer of 1962. Together, the children get into many adventures involving rival teams, lifeguards and a big dog.

The next day, the Field Day will begin at noon and last until dark at the Sautee Nacoochee campus at 283 Ga. 255 N in Sautee Nacoochee. The event is free to members and $10 for nonmembers.

Features games will be pingpong, pickleball, kickball, Kan Jam, Sautee Sandbag Tourney (aka cornhole) and board games.

Games, times and locations are as follows:

  • noon to 3 p.m. Kickball at ballfield
  • noon to 4 p.m. Pickleball in the historic gym
  • 1-4 p.m. Pingpong in the historic gym
  • 3-5 p.m. Horse in the cannery
  • 4-6 p.m. Pickleball tournament in the historic gym
  • 6-9 p.m. Kan Jam on campus

All days events include board games, bouncy house, cornhole, bocce balls, croquet and tetherball. They will be on the SNCA campus or in the community hall.

On Saturday night, participants can compete in two tournaments — Kan Jam and pickleball. If you pay an extra registration fee on site, then half of the pot is given to the winners.

Food, sodas, water, beer and wine will be available for purchase.
