UNG Jazz Band to play the classics and contemporary

Classics from William James “Count” Baise and Johnny Mercer to new tunes by Isaac Hayes, Stevie Wonder and Tower of Power will be on tap for 2017 University of North Georgia Big Band Show.

Organzied by the UNG’s Department of Music, the musical event will feature the UNG Gainesville Jazz Band. The band will play selections from jazz musicians ranging from swing to funk and fusion.

The show will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, March 3, and Saturday, March 4, in the Ed Cabell Theater on the UNG Gainesville campus at 3820 Mundy Mill Road in Oakwood.

Tickets for reserved seating cost $14.25 for adults; $8.25 for Gainesville Theatre Alliance subscribers; $10.25 for children, seniors, groups and non-UNG students; and $5 for UNG faculty, staff and students. ID is required.
