North Georgia residents may step away from their television sets and enjoy stories the old-fashioned way as Dolores Hydock hosts “An Evening of Stories” on Saturday night in Sautee.
Hydock, an Alabama-based award-winning storyteller, plans to share her elaborate characters with a “mix of literary wit and country smarts,” according to a press relsease from Sautee Nacoochee Center.
Her stories are designed to cover tales of family, true love and hard times. However, she uses a unique method of memorizing and retelling the stories.
“It’s easy,” Hydock said in the press release. “I don’t keep anything useful in my head.
“I go to the grocery store and leave without the two main things I went in to buy,” she continued. “If it weren’t for sticky notes and bits of scrap paper taped to the refrigerator, I’d be lost. Without all that information about day-to-day tasks in it, my brain has plenty of room for the words to stories.”
The storytelling artist will share her gift along with other storytellers at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Sautee Nacoochee Community Associations’s Center at 283 Ga. 255 North in Sautee.
