The Del Baroni Orchestra will perform in the next concert in the Evenings of Intimate Jazz series by The Arts Council.

The group will perform at 8 p.m. Friday in the Smithgall Arts Center. Tickets are $30, plus sales tax.

The final artist in the series is the Larry Barker (Pianist) Quartet on May 19.

Del Baroni was originally from Florida and moved to Georgia in 1987, where he became a fixture in the Atlanta music scene.

His “On The Air” concept recreates the excitement of live broadcasts as well as intimate jazz club settings using vintage equipment and vocal stylings like Frank Sinatra in his shows.

The quartet will feature classic swing emulating the full sound of the big bands, including hits from such artists as Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Harry Connick, Tony Bennett and Ella Fitzgerald. Audiences may also be treated to some Motown, pop, Latin, disco and ethnic music.

The group features James “Jez” Graham, a piano player, singer and songwriter who was performed for Atlanta music lovers since 1988; Joel Morris, a freelance percussionist, composer and arranger who has performed with various touring shows and artists, including Phantom of the Opera National Tour, The Moody Blues, Widespread Panic, Mac Frampton, Joni Mitchell, Rita Moreno and Bernadette Peters; and vocalist Jennifer Hanson, a Canadian whose torchy, seductive vocal style is among the finest in the current generation of jazz singers.
