It’s time to stand up in the fight against cancer on the beach Saturday, Sept. 24, at Lanier Islands in Buford.
The inaugural Stand Up for the Cure will feature paddleboarding on the beach with lessons and races for adults and children. Participants may try out boards or bring their own.
The crowd will be entertained with live music and can satisfy their hunger or thirst with food and beer.
Participants can win prizes in the opportunity drawing and silent auction or take home a tech shirt.
But they also can have free breast and skin cancer screenings, too. When breast cancer is found before it leaves the breast, women now have a higher survival rate.
Registration costs between $30 and $50, depending on your registration status. Onsite registration begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at 7000 Lanier Islands Parkway. Or participants can preregister online at suftc.org/su/standup-for-the-cure-events/upcoming-events/atlanta-2016/ and set up a fundraising team.
Proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Greater Atlanta.
