Piedmont presents annual Lessons and Carols service

The Piedmont College Chorale performs its annual Service of Lessons and Carols on Dec. 2-3 at school chapel.

The Piedmont College Chorale will present its 23rd annual Service of Lessons and Carols at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 2-3 in the chapel on the Demorest campus.

The performances are free and open to the public.

Directed by Lauren Ringwall, the ensemble will be accompanied by organist Joy Hayner; the Lumpkin County High School Varsity Singers, conducted by Talmadge Smith; and the Piedmont Brass Quintet.

Soloists include Piedmont music professors Andrea Price (soprano) and Jonathan Pilkington (tenor).

The Chorale, which is comprised of singers from the college and across Northeast Georgia, will perform works by Handel, J.S. Bach, Kent Newbury, Richard Proulx and Johannes Brahms along with traditional carols and hymns of the holiday season, with the audience invited to sing along.

During the performance, Piedmont faculty and staff will read lessons from the Bible, including excerpts from St. Luke, St. Matthew, St. John, Isaiah and Genesis.
