The Gainesville Ballet Company has found a way to put tiny dancers right in the middle of a classic fairy tale.

This weekend, the group will host an "Alice in Wonderland" mini-camp, complete with visits from Alice, the White Rabbit and a tea party.

Saturday's mini-camp is set for 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Brenau University Fitness Center, 500 Washington St. in Gainesville. It is open to children ages 3 to 10 and costs $25 per child.

Not only will participants have the opportunity to spend the morning with the company ballerinas, they will also get to perform their own "Alice in Wonderland" production for their parents at noon.

Participants can wear a leotard with tights or a T-shirt paired with shorts or sweats. No previous dance experience is required, organizers say.

The camp will give participants and their parents a taste of the company's spring production of "Alice in Wonderland," which will be performed March 23-25 at Brenau's Pearce Auditorium.

Although walk-in campers will be accepted on a space available basis, early registration is preferred. Morning registration will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday.
