Stores are lining their shelves with school supplies, and retailers are readying for the tax-free holiday weekend. Both of these actions plus a few more indicate summer vacation is almost over for Gainesville and Hall County students.

But before the school bell rings, Lanier Islands is teaming up with STAR 94.1 to host a Back-to-School Beach Bash at LanierWorld to give students a summertime sendoff.

The Bash is set to be from noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 30, with live entertainment, a movie on the Spectacular Screen and access to a dozen waterslides, rides and attractions. The entertainment schedule includes:

  • Fun on the beach from noon to 6 p.m., including a bubble and magic show with Aaron Clark, street performers, Lanier Islands summer games and DJ Josh spinning kid-friendly tunes
  • A scavenger hunt with prizes provided by Animal Planet
  • Live remote and movie mingle with Tingle of STAR 94.1 on the big beach, featuring “Zootopia” on the five-story, high-definition screen at 7:30 p.m.
  • Country music artist Justin Dukes will perform from 3-7 p.m. at Sunset Cove followed by a DJ spinning tunes from 7-11 p.m. for adults

Tickets to the Back-to-School Beach Bash are $41.99 for adults and children taller than 42 inches tall, $30.99 for children under 42 inches and seniors 55 and older, and free for children 2 and younger. Grandparents are free with a paying child. As featured every day of the 2016 LanierWorld season, active military members, police officers and fire personnel are granted free admission to the park.

While the return to school may mark the end of summer for many, it doesn’t mean the end of summer at LanierWorld. The park will still be open to sunbathers, beachgoers and waterslide warriors from Aug. 1-7. Then LanierWorld will be open on weekends through Labor Day.

The last day of the 2016 season at LanierWorld will be Sunday, Sept. 11.
