Lanier Islands marks Labor Day weekend

LanierWorld’s waterslides will be open for during the Lanier Islands “Last Blast of Summer” celebration.
Although summer 2014 doesn’t officially come to a close until Sept. 22, Lanier Islands plans to mark the season’s end with a “Last Blast of Summer”-themed Labor Day weekend. Set to take place at the lakeside beach, boardwalk and waterpark district, the celebration will encompass four days of fun from Friday through Monday. Events will include: Friday * Johnny Summers performs 5-9 p.m. at the beachfront Sunset Cove restaurant Saturday * Riley Biederer & Rex perform from 1-5 p.m. at Sunset Cove restaurant * Register from 4-9 p.m. at Sunset Cove for a chance to win tickets to Atlanta Falcons game * Old School Horn Band performs from 6-10 p.m. on Sunset Cove stage * Wylie Coyote Band performs from 1-5 p.m. on Big Beach stage Sunday * Evan Greenstein performs from 2-6 p.m. at Sunset Cove restaurant * Register from 4-9 p.m. at Sunset Cove for a chance to win tickets to Atlanta Falcons game * Fly Betty Band performs from 6-10 p.m. on Sunset Cove stage * Wylie Coyote Band performs from 3-7 p.m. on Big Beach stage * Fireworks after dark Monday * Ashley Rivera performs from 2-6 p.m. at Sunset Cove * Wylie Coyote Band performs from 3-7 p.m. on Big Beach Stage LanierWorld also will operate its waterslides and attractions, carnival rides, great food, beach volleyball, talented boardwalk entertainers and stretch of white sandy beach.
