Communities across the region are “Painting Your World Purple” to show support for a special season: It’s Relay For Life time, and purple is the color of cancer awareness for Relay Nation.
Painting the state purple includes initiatives such as displaying purple bows, ribbons and wreaths and donning “Paint Our State” T-shirts. Relay feet and cupcakes are going up in storefronts as customers support business efforts to promote awareness of Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society.
The Jackson County Relay For Life is from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at Nicholson Park.
Ali Jackson, the new community manager for Relay For Life for Jackson, Walton, Barrow and Madison counties, is busy coordinating with local organizing committees and team captains to support their Relays. Bank Night for Jackson County Relay For Life will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Mountain Valley Community Bank. That evening, teams will select their campsites for Saturday’s Relay happenings.
