Ripe tomatoes and mountain music seemingly make the perfect combination for an outdoor event in the Northeast Georgia mountains. And the Byron Herbert Reece Farm and Heritage Center is making it a reality.
Maters and Music will be from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at 8552 U.S. 129, in Blairsville. The venue is about nine miles south of Blairsville near Vogel State Park.
Patrons may enjoy a homemade tomato sandwich, compliments of the Reece Center. Fresh tomatoes will be for sale as well.
Entertaining visitors will be the Bennie Shook Family and the Shady Grove United Methodist Church Bluegrass band.
While admission to the program is free, a tour of the center’s exhibits is $4 for individuals 12 years old and older.
The gift shop will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
