Crooning Country New Year’s Eve

When: 8-10:30 p.m.

Where: Habersham Community Theatre, 1370 Washington St., Clarkesville

Cost: $25

For the third year, Habersham Community Theatre is presenting an evening of music Dec. 31.

In 2011, Frank Loesser sang while an Elvis impersonator entertained audiences a year later. This year, Habersham County’s Courtney Scofield and a live band will perform songs of favorite female country artists at “HCT’s Crooning Country New Year’s Eve.”

Scofield has portrayed Patsy Cline in two previous musicals at HCT, “Always, Patsy Cline” and “A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline.” On New Year’s Eve, she will sing some songs by Patsy, as well as songs by The Dixie chicks, Tammy Wynette, Miranda Lambert and others. Songs to be performed include “Crazy,” “Blue Moon of Kentucky,” “I Fall to Pieces,” “Walkin’ After Midnight,” “Stand By Your Man,” “Delta Dawn” and “You Belong To Me.”

Accompanying Scofield will be a live band featuring Brittany Townsend on piano, Billy Busic on guitar, Marie Dunkle on fiddle, Peyton Griffin on bass and Susan Johnson on percussion.

The New Year’s Eve event includes a complimentary glass of champagne and a delicious dessert, provided by local restaurants. HCT will also sell beer and wine prior to and during the performance.

Crooning Country New Year’s Eve starts at 8 p.m. and ends at 10:30 p.m., allowing participants to travel home safely before midnight.

Tickets are $25 per person. Call 706-839-1315 or visit www.habershamtheater.org.
